Simone's Bar Chicago: Casual yet Classy Wedding Inspo in Pilsen.

Updated: Jan 16

As smaller, and more casual weddings continue to trend amongst Chicago couples, we're slowly starting to see the local wedding media start to catch up. Yet most small weddings depicted still tend to lean towards the super formal end; full of elaborate pomp and cicumstance. I wanted to show that casual weddings can be just as classy as this is what 80% of my weddings look like!

Pilsen is an up-and-coming neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest side with a rich cultural history and a growing population of young, trendy people and bars. While Pilsen has a handful of well known venues, I wanted to keep things fresh and think outside the box for our shoot location.

Simone’s, which is located in an unassuming building on Pilsen’s main street seemed like the perfect loaction, because inside you'll find the coolest, most unique space in the area.

Simone’s private event space, dubbed “The Lab” after the old chemistry classroom its finishes and furniture came from, was the backdrop for our gorgeous couple. The "Lab" can seat up to 30 people but the entire bar can be bought out as well for larger groups, with their large party minimum for catering starting at 50 people. Simone's allows you to bring outside desserts to your event, however they do require you to purchase a catering and bar package.

Our bride’s dress from Jade Bridal, also located in Pilsen, is simple yet dramatic with tons of layers of tulle and delicate lace at the bodice. The groom, who was styled by Three Hangers, wore a black vest, burgundy button-up and dainty boutonniere by May Floral. The bride’s bouquet featured soft whites punctuated with blush accents, textured greens, and gorgeous anemones.

Hanna Walkowaik captured some beautiful and dramatic shots, focusing mostly on the couple and their great chemistry. Despite having never met before the day of the shoot, Hortencia and Tony could pass for a real couple any day! Hair and makeup was provided by BMB Bridal, and stationery by Minted Weddings.
